Binh Tran (Bill Tran), 24, from Saigon, Vietnam. Lover of hi-tech, culture and tradition.

Bill Tran is a Master’s student in the Computer Science & Software Engineering Program at Auburn University. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics & Computer Science in November 2016 from the University of Science – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. Bill aspires to be a Solution Architect. While his computing interests are both vocational and recreational, his current academic focus is on development of his programming skills as applied to multiple projects.

He is currently a research assistant for the Speech Technologies Lab, responsible for software and online application development for the Intelligibility Study. His developed “IntelliTurk” web application for the Intelligibility Study is integrated with Amazon Mechanical Turk, crowdsourcing platform. Bill has worked under the guidance and supervision of Javier Livio, experienced professional and member of the Computer Science & Software Engineering PhD program. In addition to his involvement with the Speech Technologies Lab, Bill has been participated in Roasting Profiler and Coffee Bean Cupping Matching Data Acquisition Pilot, a project aims to present a solution to gather all the data needed between the roasting process and the cupping results of coffee beans, employing machine learning techniques, founded and inspired by Javier Livio.

Besides software development, Bill Tran is also a Graphic Designer. By watching online tutorials, he taught himself graphic design. He has designed brochures, catalogues and New Year greeting cards for his family business. He designed the IntelliTurk logo for the Intelligibility Study. He also helps people around edit their photos or design things.
