My journey to America! - Traveled alone, cold outside but warm in feelings

When I was young, I watched TV shows and movies reflecting American culture, history and so on and I was impressed by American values. When I was in college, I was taught about American culture, education, literature and history as parts of the course Introduction to British and American Culture & Society. I became a member of The American Center in 2016, which is a free library in Vietnam that founded by former President of the United Sates Barack Obama. The American Center provides us opportunities to approach American things with variety of books, music, videos, movies, etc. I went to the library every afternoons after class and learned about American history, culture and society.

When I graduated, I decided to study in America because it would be a chance for me to approach the best education system, the most contemporary technologies in the world. When I was learning about universities in America, a friend of mine recommended me Auburn University. Then I learned about Auburn University on its website and I was interested in its good reputation and tradition. Plus, Auburn is a small town which is ideal for studying. Eventually I decided to choose Auburn, refused another offer from a school in New York.

I came to America in the first days in January when it was very cold outside. Though it was my very first time travel alone to another country, plus I was tired after a long day traveling, I wasn't lost at the airport, thanks to very clear and easy to follow directions. I was really impressed by the feeling of being welcome by the people I first met at the airport. When I was waiting for the bus taking me from international airport to domestic airport in very cold weather, the smile of the bus driver seemed make me warmer. She helped me with moving my suitcases into the bus and when she knew it was my first time to the U.S., she encouraged me to study well and hoped I would adapt the new environment soon. These were just simple words which showed her caring to me but it was thankful for her and I felt I was warmly welcomed.
