I donated to Hurricane Harvey through American Red Cross with hope to support the families and people who affected by the hurricane. Following is a thank you letter from Harvey Johnson, Senior Vice President, Disaster Cycle Services at American Red Cross.
Dear Binh,
I wanted to extend my sincere thanks for your recent contribution to the American Red Cross in support of Hurricane Harvey relief following the catastrophic destruction caused by the storm. You made a tremendous difference for families when they needed you most.
It has been nearly a month since the deadly Hurricane Harvey devastated parts of Texas and Louisiana – flooding homes, submerging roads, making entire neighborhoods unreachable.
But thanks to your support, Binh, the Red Cross and partners were able to launch a significant Hurricane Harvey relief effort, providing safe shelter, food and comfort to families who lost everything.
“It just feels good to be here. We made it.” – Maribel, Houston, Texas, on arriving safely at a local Red Cross shelter.
Thank you for being there.
Here is how your support is helping families like Maribel’s:
• In the last few weeks, the Red Cross and community partners have provided more than 405,000 overnight stays in emergency shelters due to Hurricane Harvey.
• The Red Cross has served more than 2.6 million meals and snacks to people in need after the hurricane.
• More than 2,900 Red Cross disaster workers and as many as 170 emergency response vehicles are on the ground right now, helping thousands of people affected by this disaster.
• The Red Cross has distributed nearly 849,000 relief items like diapers, bug spray, cleaning supplies, and comfort kits that contain deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other hygiene items in Texas and Louisiana.
Binh, we could not have done any of it without you. It is your trust and your support that fuels our work. I wanted to share a video of footage of our on the ground response from both Hurricane Harvey and Irma that shows the difference that supporters like you make to families in need.
Stay tuned for our one-month report, which will share how donor dollars continue to make an impact to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
I cannot say it enough: Thank you.
Sincerely,
Harvey Johnson
